HYSTERIA!!!

Here we are in Long Island and Lisa is out front signing books (and body parts, no doubt) so I have taken the responsibility of blogging away from her - just for tonight. I know her, she will be up till 3am catching up with emails and worrying about not blogging. She and Caroline leave early in the morning for Atlanta so it’s important she gets some rest.

Writing something inspiring and thought provoking isn’t quite my thing – that’s Lisa’s job. This will just be idle chatter, observations and gentle leg pulling (translation = teasing).
I have had THE BEST time with Lisa and Caroline. I’m sure most of you realise that I knew Lisa BEFORE she was famous and to me she is still just my “mate” so to witness all of the hysteria surrounding her has been totally surreal! And I mean HYSTERIA! If I’m honest with you, I’ve found it hard to take it all in at times. She hasn’t changed; she’s still Witchy my BFF from Redditch it’s just that now she has a very public job. And, boy, do her public ADORE her.

I can totally understand why – she is great at her job and she is THE best friend anyone could ever hope to have. I love her unconditionally and she is more sister than friend.

She did her first book signing last night and I couldn’t believe how people were swooning over her, lol. They waited patiently for AGES just to get a glimpse of her and to get their books signed. Some were totally crushed that she didn’t have time to do Q&A (and the reason there wasn’t time for that is because we didn’t expect there to be over 100 peeps and signing books was more important to
Lisa than answering questions plus she had a show in Tarrytown so there was a tight time schedule).
Tonight we did another signing; I say “we” because I have been her groupie during this trip, following her around like one of her star struck fans, so it was my signing as much as hers! When we turned up, I got out of the car and could see people inside the book store and their little faces lit up when they saw it was LISA! It totally cracked me up and I sang that little Sandra Bullock ditty from Miss Congeniality, “they love you, they want to marry you”. It was one of those classic comedy moments and we almost wet our pants laughing. It sort of set the tone for the rest of the evening and we have had a great time on our last night together.

People actually cheered when Lisa walked into Barnes and Noble! I was still wetting my pants from the Sandra Bullock thing so this incident gave me plenty more to tease her about.
Pam Bowman – on behalf of Lisa “thank you” for the wonderful gift. Lisa has lots of bead necklaces in her meditation room and she knows just where yours will go when she gets back home. That’s a beautiful piece of jewellery. If you don’t make those to sell on, then you should consider doing so! Hint, hint – pink is my colour! I’m teasing!!!

Everyone has been so generous with gifts and greetings – thank you to you all. Lisa is very overwhelmed by your generousity.

The show tonight was just fab; Lisa was on fire. The audience was buzzing and there was an incredible atmosphere – thank you Long Island, you were an absolute pleasure.

It’s Caroline’s birthday today and we were lucky enough to find the time for a celebratory lunch (complete with Perrier Jouet – Lisa’s favourite champagne) and a horse-drawn carriage ride around Central Park. The sun was shining, the atmosphere was relaxed and we had a really pleasant trip. We saw people sunbathing on “Manhattan Beach” and I was thankful that it’s not only us Brits who strip down and lie down at the first glimpse of sunshine.

I am so proud of Lisa. She works so hard, and for so much of the time and I am glad she is getting the recognition she deserves. I was privileged to be in the GMA studio yesterday when she was interviewed by Diane Sawyer. Naturally I don’t know who this lady is but I understand she’s “big”. I thought the interview was great. Lisa handled herself well, but she always does, she’s a true professional and I think Diane asked some thought provoking questions. The quote she took from Lisa’s book at the end of the interview was lovely and I feel it was an acknowledgement of Lisa’s gift. Reading between the lines, I also took that as a sign that Diane believes in mediumship. Just my observation, please don’t go crazy about it on the message boards!! I see it has been a hot topic of discussion.

Tomorrow I return to the UK and I am sad to be leaving Lisa. I wish I could complete the rest of the book tour with her and Caroline.

I totally “heart” New York and I need to get the T-shirt tomorrow. This is my first trip here but it won’t be my last. Our hotel has been a lot like Fawlty Towers (google it if you don’t know what I’m on about) but it’s given us plenty of laughs and certainly many precious memories (aside from my 2 hour nightmare of a check-in on Saturday – some people just shouldn’t be in customer service!!).
Chick – thanks for getting me here; nagging me to get my son looked after, paying for my ticket, AND for my hotel AND subbing me some spending money… you are just too good to me but you know I don’t take it for granted. I love you loads and am so proud of all you have achieved. I am truly honoured to have you as my BFF. I just don’t have the words in me to express just what you mean to me… you certainly are one “Top Chick”.

Love to all
Janey xxx

Hi Janey,
Blog well done!
It's fabulous to hear that the three of you have had such a great time!
Sorry to hear that you've got to leave, safe travels to you.
I laughed out loud when I read the part about “they love you, they want to marry you”. You are quite clever coming up with that one - love your sense of humor! Thank you for sharing your holiday adventures with us.
Lisa is truly an inspiration - what a fabulous role model she is!
Peace and light to you!

Lisa,

I wonder if you ever feel intimidated or overwhelmed with all of this attention??

So many people seem to demand a part of you, or your life, when they haven't event met you!

Sometimes the 'fanatacism' scares me just from reading the comments on your blog.

Anyway, I wanted to know if the book is available in Australia yet?! Ideally I'd like to read it, as preparation, before I head over to the Ojai retreat (which I am so looking forward to BTW).

Thanks,

Felicity.

Wild beyond anyones imagination and just you and Caroline, boy are you guys brave! Caroline will need a big stick to hold the people back! LOL Have a safe flight there and I look forward to seeing you.

I love it that you took the reigns on blogging tonight, Janey!!

It's always great to hear different perspectives of one unfolding experience! And what better way for Lisa to share such a mind-boggling, amazing experience than with her best mate and lovely assistant?

I truly enjoy your spirit and personality just from what I have read, Janey!.. because the friend in a group who would be doing the "gentle leg pulling" would be me as well.. I love it!.. lol.

The Miss Congeniality reference was classic!! I hope you were prepared for wetting your pants.. Maybe a jacket to tie around your waist? :P J/K! Sorry.. lol.

Thank you for being such a fantastic sister to Lisa! Sometimes.. many times, in fact.. non-blood sisters (brothers, etc.) are far more like family, dependable, and loving than our own "blood-family"... Unfortunately, in one sense.. but so fantastic when/if we are able to find those "lifetime" friends in our lives...

I roamed Central Park during my NY visit.. at wintertime.. I was nutters to do so, as the temperature happened to drastically drop that day, but I wanted to be able to walk through at least once before I had to leave! I had double layer coats and gloves on, but I was still shivering, face frozen, and telling myself "I'm crazy" the whole way through.

No one wanted to get off the bus that day because they wouldn't be able to get back on another because no seat would be available! But I did. lol

Oh well! I'm glad I could say I did it though!

Anyway, I have no idea how that story even relates! Moving on... ha ha..

I'm so glad to hear that you had such a fantastic time, but wish you could accompany the remainder of the tour, as well!! (Come to LA again and I'll send Lisa a flask for you to go to Disney with! :P)

You are also leaving Caroline alone to do one tough job!!.. keeping Lisa from "burning the candles at both ends!" Hopefully, she will forever have your voice of reason in her conscious though. :)

By the way, was waiting in line at Disneyland better than waiting for check-in at the hotel?? ;P

I guess if you have to suffer the wait, it's always better to be in good company! :)

I hope you have a safe trip home and unforgettable memories for the books!

Well, I will sign off with a quote that I enjoy...

"A good friend helps you up when you fall.. A best friend laughs at you and trips you again!" :P

Be Safe!
Much Love,
Vy :)

Go Janey! Go Janey! Go Janey! :D

Well done love. I completely agree with you about everything you said about it being strange the attention Lisa gets and I can only imagine how mad it has been these last few days. Just having people stop when you're out and get hysterical I found strange but the Beatlemania which is happening now must be quite intimidating. I love the Sandra Bullock line! What a hoot!

Glad you are all enjoying your time together, what a fabulous experience and the horse drawn carriage round Central Park is a dream of a trip! Lucky lucky you!

Lisa I second everything Janey says, you are a princess and a angel and quite possible the kindest hearted person I have ever met! What a fantastic role model and icon you are for the world! Love you x

:-) XOXO :-)

What a pleasure and a kick to read your perspective Janey! :-) I love the intensity of laughter among close friends and can just picture you trying to force on the "serious" selves coming into the room! It is interesting how people seem to separate a person of fame in such a way as to forget that THEY are/feel just like another person inside!

It's fantastic that you were able to visit NY and share the beginning of this tour with Lisa! I am sure it meant the world to her too. xo It would be a special journey for a longtime best friend to watch Lisa's gift unfold, bringing her to this place today! :-)

A very best friend of mine for 20 years came to visit tonight and we had a nice long walk, a fabulous dinner, then just hung about and shared life's stories. :-) I know that I feel deeply rejuvenated from laughter and peaceful in the unconditional glow! It is such a vital aspect of us to share the depth of who we are in close relationships! :-)

Thanks for sharing yourself with us Janey; thrilled for you and Lisa to have had this time together! Safe travels to you!!

Lisa...loads of love and light to you for another great day tomorrow!!! Keep having a blast!

XO
Love,
Heike

I have just recently started watchin Lisa's show. Then I found her website where I am totally hooked on both!!

I will have to admit that I have become quite the blog stalker now. LOL

Janey - It was really aweseome to hear hear about your journey from a different point of view.

I too, have a life time long friend that I consider a sister more than a friend. I am glad that you could be with Lisa during the start of her tour and that you all had a great time.

The Sandra Bullock line was priceless! Lisa has such an outgoing, bubbly personality...I can just see the two of you in hystarics from laughing so hard!

I am sorry that you can't continue the tour with your sister but I know you had a blast together! I hope you have a safe trip home and can make it back to see everyone again soon! (BTW - I love your quote at the end of your blog! How true!!!)

Lisa - I look forward to reading more of your blogs and can't wait to see your show on tv again. I hope that you make it to my area of town someday. I would be such and experience to get to see you work...or even to meet you! How exciting!!

I hope that Kev and Charlie are doing well while you are away!

Many safe travels to you and your crew!

Hugs!

But Janey...the question we are all asking is..how many hats does she have???? He he he he.
Did anyone win that one?

Great blog Janey...well done.

April 17, 2008 | Registered Commentermimmy

I can vouch that the hats were counted, my wife had that job, and i'm pretty sure a winner was picked, Lisa will chase that up I'm sure.

Janey, glad you explained leg pulling. Can't have the world thinking us Brits have some bizarre friendship rituals!!

Nah Ian.. we understand the saying.. :P

It's kind of like the saying, "You are pulling my leg!" lol

Actually... are you SURE it's not some strange Brit ritual??? Hmm.. I don't know.. now that you mention it...
