Children are our future!

Ok so now I am getting REALLY excited... It's almost Christmas, you would think that I am the kid. I leave Charlie's presents in my office until Christmas eve and then I wrap them and pop them under the tree... it's one mad rush but I love it.

Anyway, today has been a time of reflection again and I think so many people do this over the holiday time. Some people withdraw, others go over board. we all deal with it in so many different ways. But what we must remember is that it's the giving that makes it so special. Not giving materialistically but giving love, peace and kindness. We an get so wrapped up in our own emotion that we don't stop to think about how it's effecting others and what we can do to help.

I have been reflecting upon a little boy Zimmy. It has been 3 years to the day that we met Zimmy. He a year younger that Charlie who we meet when we were in South Africa on our honeymoon. It was sheer fate how we met him and from that moment we fell in love with him. His father had died from AIDS, his mother was not in the right place in her life to look after him and he was found wandering the streets of the township with no shoes or food on several occasions. We met a lady called Melanie who worked in the church who helped the people of the township and we embraced Zimmy as our own. We couldn't adopt him but we decided to sponsor him. Having paid for the medical tests we discovered he was HIV positive and he had TB.

We took care of him and with the help of Melanie he was placed in a foster home and was surrounded with love. We kept in touch and last year we were given photos of little Zimmy, who is now a healthy big boy who has no cares in the world, he never thinks about where his next meal is coming from, he is just cared for and loved as every child should be.

We we also recently became involved with a charity that Merv supported, Childhelp. Kev and I were fortunate enough to meet the founders, Sara and Yvonne and these 'ladies' as they are fondly referred to have changed the lives of thousands of children all over the US. These are abused children who are taken in and given a specialized program to help give them a chance in life that we all truly deserve. I love the song the Greatest Love of All. "I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way, show them all the love they possess in side" It's true. We need to nurture the children as they are the next generation and soon our lives will be in their hands. We will become special friends to a child in the new year and I will let you know what happens.

So it's been a day reflecting on Zimmy and Childhelp, and then we look at out own little boy, healthy and cheeky and I just know how blessed I am to have the miracle child I have.

I can understand what you felt meeting Zimmy, as I've experienced a somewhat similar experience that took place in Mexico. A woman, near death from AIDS, was trying to get me to take her baby. I was heartbroken that I couldn't take her child home with me, but took the child to a hospital. The mother wouldn't come....I've never forgotten them, and have since been donating monthly to various charities for children. I also give monthly to Millenium Promise, a fantastic organization in Africa.
I couldn't agree with you more - we'll be in the children's hands someday! The more love they get, the better! Even when they take the mickey out of you!

'Tis a shame this country can justify spending billions on a war that kills husbands and mothers, leaving children without one or both parents... and so little on nurturing, feeding, sheltering and educating the children that are in this world.

You are a kindred spirit of Oprah, Nelson Mandela and other generous humanitarians. I believe it was Nelson Mandela who said "If mothers ruled countries, there would be no war." So true.

Every child should know the comfort and love that Zimmy has found. Bless you for helping him. Thank you for sharing your light, your goodness, with all of us.

Hey Lisa

It feels good to give to others, especially to children..

Your words help to solidfy my reasons for living, this little girl that God has placed into my life..

I NEED to keep focus on why I do what I do, I think we all do, and not get lost in WHAT we do..forgetting the reasons WHY.....

Lisa,

I love the way you feel... in a heart kind a way. I have no children, my pevlis was Cruched by a drunk drive when i was 22 years old, and i was not given the gift of having a child. But my year old nephew lived through that accident, and i had his brother and sister to share, like changing dipers hahaha and now they have kids of their own. Wow, i guess you can call my an Old Maid hahaha....

I just had the joy of seeing the faces of young kids as they came up to Santa and told them what they wanted for Christmas. I am a Volunteer Firefighter and an EMT for my town, and we have a trailer that we pull with our Scubadive truck, Santa sits on his sled with the raindeer in front. the lights shinning bright, I love doing this every year, if i can send you a pic of it i would!!! It all pays off, the time i give all year long, the best is seeing the kids, their faces light up when they see the fire trucks, and Santa ... I have a great time!!! Its the best for me right now :o)

I always though about writing to you about a reading, but i know more people on the other side, then i do alive, you might just get confused hahahaha i lost count at 80...family, friends and people i tryed to help but didnt make it.. hahaha

I do want to say, seeing your show and watching you work as it was nothing, started me to think about my gift. I studied it for 20 years or so,( i still dont know off hand the full gift) but just gave up. Fighting the bad, losing the good, it just didnt pay. As the movie goes, I see dead people hahaha and i can heal, even when they are sure as dead, (although i only did one) Watching your show started to give me the feeling that i should start to do the healing again. Though i feel guilty that i couldnt or didnt heal my mother, maybe i should let that go and get on with life and my gift. I read so many books from different way of thinking, the Course of Miricals was the strongest i found. But i am open to all the diferent ways. I even had an offer to study with an Native American Shammon, but i was heading back east at the time, wow i wish i had that offer again right now hahaha... Anyway, i feel i am rambaling now so i will end now....

Stay strong Lisa, I am so happy that you started this Blog for us that will miss seeing you every week, and the hope you gave us.

Thank you again, and of course Merry Christmas again to you and your :o)

That is what Christmas and all of the Holidays are about! I'm glad to hear that he is doing so well! I have one wish this year...I would like a "repeat" of last Christmas. I know that it was probably a once in a lifetime chance, but I think there is a message there, I just don't know what it is. Praying with Light and Love for everyone this Christmas!

Children do give the holidays a little extra sparkle. Here's wishing you and yours a very joyous holiday season.

Childhelp is one of my favorite charities. It's nice to know that you are involved with such a wonderful organization. Anyone interested in donating can do so here:

Hi,

There is really nothing we can say to you and your family that has not already been said. I logged on to one of your radio station "live chats" and realized how many people love and enjoy you and your show. I have to say though that I love the inner you that glows when you are helping people that need peace in their lives. You are a (here we go....another repeat of what you have already heard), blessing to so many lives and help to alleviate so much sadness within their hearts. It doesn't matter
whether Lifetime renews your contract you will always have MANY U.S. citizens following you where ever you go and loving every minute of it!!!
Let us Americans know if you have another TV show in the works. We will be there with bells on!!...sorry, no pun intended here...we are just getting into the Christmas spirit here!!
Tell your favorite guys - (Kevin and Charlie),HI from the Midwest and MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPPY NEW YEAR!

ps...contrary to popular belief..... not everyone has cows, chickens, etc. on pasture land - some of us actually live in the suburbs!! :)

Children are such a precious gift. For many years it has warmed my heart to buy and shop for less fortunate then myself and I hope to be able to continue on for many years to come. Christmas is really for kids of all ages and I hope all of us remember to give to those who need it most if we can.
Love your show. I hope someday I get to meet you on one the Louise Hay tours. I am working on enhancing my own gifts as well.

Love, Light and Peace!

Lisa,You are so right!About 6years ago I felt my 4children were becoming too materialistic about christmas. So Christmas eve I took them to a homeless shelter in Boston and we all spent the day working there. It has become a tradition now and they look forward to going each christmas and many other days during the year of their own valition.I feel this has been one of the greatest gifts I have ever given them.It opened not only their eyes but their hearts, and the way they feel and look at "things" has changed dramaticly. They are truly grateful for all they have and haven't had a greedy moment since.Happily they have also become very generous about giving of themselves to other people and learned the feeling you get is more valuable than anything money can buy.I wish you and your family a happyand healthy Christmas and New Year, and I hope lifetime gets a lump of coal. Peace&Love,Mimi

I feel lonely today! This is my first year working as a nurse and I have to work this weekend and can't choose my holidays. I was thinking about my grandmom and grandpa. My grandmom (Ida) passed away in June 2006, when she passed I had few dreams about but that was it. I want to know if I am going to successful as nurse and if she is proud of me!

I just love reading all these generous posts from everyone. I have learned that's is important to pay attention to whom we attract in our lives. What do they say of us and our process with life & living.

So WOW Lisa...amazing people are supporting your process. Amazing generous good Souls are showing you how beautifully you are doing.

There are some fantastic good people out there (including yourself) who have rolled up their collective sleeves to bring awareness to the HIV Aids Pandemic in South Africa effecting women and especially those innocent innocent children. The stories are heartbreaking and the ignorance bliss among far too many. I send energy and call for our world leaders to do more to help educate, find solutions & bring healings.

In the words of Annie Lennox (who is campaigning this cause so passionately too) YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

And you have! Much energy to Zimmy & the countless others who need love & support in South Africa.

Much Love,

Andrea

Children are our legacy, no matter if they came from our bodies or not. If you love, and care for a child.. a part of you will live on in them.

I have two boys, Richard and Ryan. Richard just turned 24 yesterday (the 21st) and Ryan is 18. When Richard went into the army a few years back, he was living with his best friend Rory, who had been a meth addict years before, when my boy shipped overseas, Rory couldnt handle being on his own without Richard and slipped back into old habits. Rorys family turned thier backs on him.

Richard found out and asked me to take him in, which we did (i had remarried).. Rory lived with us for 2 years... used a bit.. got arrested.. sat in jail as we wouldnt bail him out.. went through drug court.. i got him a job with me.... he went through rehab, graduated... and finally got married, has a beautiful daughter of his own now.. has been clean and sober for near 4 years.....

Rory isnt mine.. but he is proof of what love and caring can do for someone.... no one else would give him that chance... i am glad we did.

I am glad you cared for Zimmy.. by helping one we help many as it gets paid forward, even if we dont realize it... everytime we step up to the plate, it dominos into the future.

best wishes and happy holidays
ally

Lisa, with reading this about you, I am reminded of Princess Diana and her great compassion. You remind me of her.

Please get on the tele again! I learned so much from you and so enjoyed your show! You are amazing.

Caring for our children and our fellow man IS what Christmas (and actually life) is all about. It doesn't matter what our religion as long as we keep that spirit in our hearts and act upon it.
